Modupe Olafunmiloye

Founder and CEO

Modupe Olafunmiloye is a former public school Educator, who taught High School Biology (HSA) and General Science in middle school for several years. She earned a Master’s degree in Cellular Parasitology /Molecular Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. Before changing her career to become an educator, Modupe worked as a graduate assistant in the academic environment for four years with experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques and research. She currently holds a Maryland State Teaching Certificate (APC/dual) in Biology and Special Education (K-12).

During her teaching career, she realized the need for all students to have access to real-world Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). In order to encourage and spark the interest of students in the area of STEM, she sponsored after-school clubs for robotics, environmental science, and national STEM competitions. There, students were able to collaborate and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to unravel real-world problems within the community.

Her STEM club won multiple Maryland State competitions and got recognition from the sponsors, parents and administrators. Modupe sees the necessity to reach out to all students, including the underrepresented in the underserved communities by providing access to engaging scientific and technological activities. Her goal is to spark students’ interest in STEM academic and career pursuits. Upon leaving the teaching profession, her passion for STEM and her dedication to her students led her to a God-inspired vision and the birth of STEMWonders Education and Enrichment. STEMWonders is a unique environment where students are exposed to hands-on STEM as a fun, engaging, and exciting quest.
