Modupe Olafunmiloye /

Modupe Olafunmiloye is a former public school Educator, who taught High School Biology (HSA) and General Science in middle school for several years. She earned a Master’s degree in Cellular Parasitology /Molecular Biology and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. Before changing her career to become an educator, Modupe worked as a graduate assistant in the academic environment for four years with knowledgeable experience in cellular and molecular biology techniques and research. She currently holds a Maryland State Teaching Certificate (Advanced Professional Certificate) in Biology and Special Education (dual/K-12).

Victoria Adams /

Instructor

Victoria Adams is an experienced educator who has taught math and science for 16 years in the public and private sectors. Over the last twenty years, she has had the opportunity to work with at-risk youth in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. Victoria had the privilege to work for a non-profit organization for three years where she coordinated a youth health education program. This required her to assist with grant writing as well as implementation and management of the grant. She holds a Maryland State Department of Education Certificate in Special Education (K-12).

Gabrielle Sanchez /

Instructor

Gabrielle Sanchez has studied various fields within the sciences, with an emphasis on environmental science and ecology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Maryland. She has been teaching Middle School Science for two years and she is currently teaching a High School Biology class along with Eighth-grade Science. Gabrielle’s expertise lays in environmental science and as such, her interests revolve around the outdoors and conservation. She loves gardening, hiking, biking, and volunteering during summer to help maintain trails at Catoctin Mountain Park. She loves nature and the outdoors, and considers herself a naturalist, much like the great Aldo Leopold.

Innocent Abaso /

Innocent Abaso is constantly looking for opportunities to motivate students to explore the world around them; to carefully guide them through necessary and diverse critical thinking situations and to offer freedom in thought processes and learning. Abaso is a success-driven experienced Middle School teacher of Science (with certification to teach 6th grade through 12th grade) with expertise in developing an intuitive connection with students, tuning into specific learning needs and providing clear , concise and complete hands-on exercises. He is experienced in developing an appropriate curriculum and planning highly effective lessons. Abaso possesses good communication skills and he is highly adaptable, organized, competent and loyal. Abaso is a great team player with additional expertise in sports coaching. He currently coaches an FLL Robotics team at the middle school level. Rogacion Barientos /

ROGACION BARRIENTOS believes that there is nothing a child cannot do! This statement drives her passion for teaching and motivates her to be dedicated to her career as a teacher. Rogacion Barientos is happily married and blessed with three wonderful children. She graduated (bachelor’s degree) from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Philippines with a degree in Industrial Education majoring in Physics. She completed her Master’s degree in General Education at Araullo University (Philippines). Rogacion has been teaching for 23 years. She holds an Advanced Professional Certificate in Maryland (APC). She works as Talented and Gifted (TAG) science teacher at the public school system. She has an extensive knowledge and experience as a classroom teacher and as an educator. Rogacion has a lot of winnings to celebrate with her students! As the Coach of science STEM Competitions (Final Frontiers, Science Bowl, Science Fair and Destination Imagination) for three consecutive years, they have received First Place in different events and categories in STEM competitions. “This encourages me a lot to continuously share my knowledge and skills with the students,” she said.

Federico Barrientos /

Instructor

FEDERICO BARRIENTOS currently teaches at Southern Maryland Christian Academy as a Resource Teacher. He teaches Middle School mathematics, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry. He also teaches general science at the middle school level. Federico has relevant experience in teaching college students how to become Certified Public Accountants by coaching them and preparing them to pass the certification examination. Federico earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. He taught Financial Accounting as a part-time professor at the Araullo University in the Philippines.
